FAAD charge some crazy money to get your app to the top. There’s a lot of topics about this on the net.
There are also accusations of these companies which offer guarantees eg appmagenta using bots. One reputable user made an app which contacts his server on start up. He didn’t even receive 0.01% of the downloaded number requests to his server.
The net is littered with people who had adds in their apps and didn’t receive any increase in impressions.

I think FAAD uses their own app to announce your app. They also take a percentage of your sales after you go back to paid for x number of days. But there are a few free alternatives.
Go over to Touch Arcade, and request to be added to the dev only section. (You’ll see a section that says private, devs only, click there and request - the requirement is that you have an app released already, so put a link to your app in the request)
There’s an interesting thread there where people have tried faad, daily app dream and others and some of their results. There’s also a guy who just went free on his own - zero promotion and had 85,000 free downloads over a weekend - this is due to all those trackers like appshoper. Hmm interesting. Most of these sites require that the app was Paid before? They usually say it must have been paid for at least 1 week before the promotion.
I think at least, if not more than, 50% of the downloads you receive are due to trackers tweeting and posting about a price change. Thats why they have that requirement, and the ‘week’ is to make sure all of them update 
I would be interested in the result you have, but I have a feeling you’ll top out at 20 to 30k if you’re lucky.

They track the drops and have a RSS feed alot of other sites use to twitter to their followers.

Well i get 13-16k download a day. So it show push more, in my opinion.

wow thats some nice downloads. Then why pay FAAD $4000 ?!
Use the free services first like daily app dream, game giveaway (not sure if its free still), or the cheap ones like free app calendar. Although I’m surprised if any of these including FAAD will accept you being an already free app.
I’d be very interested in what happens in your case tho, because its not the normal use of these sites!

I don’t mean why advertise. I just thought $4,000 for what FAAD do is probably not worth it. But then again for you, it’ll get people who probably don’t know anything like that exists to download it.
I’m a little confused where you put your ads tho? From my calculations the only way to make serious money is ad rotation in a program that runs for a long time - classic example a torch app. Eventually they see something they like, or even accidentally click it
iAd is kind of dead with the very low fill rate, and for your type of add, you want the camera to start quickly.
