FREE IMA4 Audio Converting Tool

Hi everyone,

In the documentation, it states to convert your sfx to .caf files using the following command:

/usr/bin/afconvert -f caff -d ima4 {INPUT}

After inputting that command into the terminal, I finally had it and decided to make a simple little app that will allow you to drop as many .wav files as you want into it (all at once), and it’ll convert them ALL in to IMA4 .caf files!

Get it here:
IMA4 Dropper

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Unzip the downloaded file.

  • Drag the app into your ‘Applications’ folder.

  • Run the app, a little dropper window will appear.

  • Drag all of the wav files you want converted into the dropper window (you may drop in multiple files at once).

  • All .caf files will output to the same directory, leaving the original WAV files intact (I normally just create a folder ‘old wav’ and drop them in there).

This little tool is saving me a lot of time when it comes to adding SFX to my game!

It currently doesn’t support LEI16, just IMA4 because I haven’t needed to use LEI16 yet. But If you need it, let me know and I’ll make an app for that too.

For easier access (because I’m sure this thread will be bumped down very low within the next few days), I also posted it in the ‘Utilities’ sub-category in the Code section:

@jonbeebe

Nice Jon, thanks for sharing this utility.

I thought of doing the same thing, but I only had 8 files to convert and am handy with a Unix command line.

I thought this was a new app then saw the date stamp.
Still better late than never!
Thanks for the cool app. [import]uid: 39031 topic_id: 2085 reply_id: 68221[/import]
