From The Blog: Welcome Chartboost and AdColony to our monetization family

chartboost-adcolonyOutside of the 12+ other monetization plugins now available, Corona is also proud to announce support for Chartboost and AdColony. As some of you know, these ad networks are quite possibly the most heavily requested by the community and we are pleased to offer them officially. As with our other monetization plugins, these will be kept up-to-date as their underlying SDKs are updated to ensure the best user experience.

Unlike our other monetization plugins, integration of Chartboost or AdColony works slightly differently. In order to use them in your projects, you will first need to activate Corona Ads, create an app within the Corona Ads dashboard, and then activate the app for Chartboost and/or AdColony.

To be clear, you do not need to use Corona Ads — simply add your apps and activate these third-party ad networks within the Corona Ads dashboard. You also do not need an account with Chartboost or AdColony; you will receive payment for user activity from Corona Labs instead of from the ad networks directly.

Similar to our AppLovin and Facebook Audience Network plugins (quite popular in the community as well), Corona will take a small 5% commission before paying the remaining 95% to you, the developer.

As always, the Corona Labs team is dedicated to ensuring the quality of builds while making the overall process of developing apps easier and more profitable. That’s why we are excited to offer you over a dozen monetization plugins — and now Chartboost and AdColony — as improved ways to monetize your apps. Join us in the forums to discuss these great additions.

Congratulations Corona Team! It’s great to have an “official” and “supported” way to implement Chartboost. And the 5% seems reasonable. But a very important question – AMAZON support within Corona Ads. Both Chartboost and AppLovin (in their app setup on their sites) support specific Amazon App setups for their advertising.

Related to this, we derive nearly 40% of our overall in-app advertising revenue from our Amazon apps. So this is one of the primary reasons we have used Chartboost for years (average of about $9.25 eCPM on Amazon ads). In the Corona Ads Dashboard, there hasn’t been an Amazon choice when setting up an app (up until now). Will we not be able to do Chartboost Amazon advertising?

Steve Bullock

Can you put in a feature request for that at https://feedback.coronalabs.com?

Thanks

Rob

Great news. But, will I be able to use chartboost dashboard analysis to track installs ?

How can I setup the parameters (message, image, coin number, earn life…) of Chartboost’s reward video ads in Corona’s dashboard? If I can’t, how can I do this in Chartboost’s portal?

Thanks Rob.

I’ll put in the feature request for including Amazon Apps as a supported app advertising platform in the Corona Ads framework (for at least Chartboost ads . . . if not for all of Corona Ads).

BTW – wilsonwansun’s question about rewarded video setup is important too. I have several apps set up so that they can either display Vungle incentivized videos or Chartboost. Chartboost monetizes these rewarded videos at 3X to 4X rate of Vungle.

Steve

I’ll have to find a concrete answer to that but my understanding is that you just email us your setup needs. I’ll have to get the right email address and verify that’s the case.

Rob

Yes, I’d like to know the answer to WilsonWan’s question, too

It would be great to have all of our Ad networks managed by a single portal - i.e. CoronaAds - are you planning to allow us to manage our other Ad networks under Corona Ads if we don’t want to manage them directly ourselves? Especially regarding FAN and AppLovin, since you already take a 5% cut? And it would be great if such a portal also showed us the individual performance of the ads and allowed us to have more control over managing all of them from a single place (i.e. CoronaAds portal) - and one could argue it would be worth paying 5% for other ad networks to have the benefit of CoronaAd control, too - in this way, we could see how CoronaAds uses the communities’ experiences (and monetization) to optimize ad placement. Just saying, we developers would love to hand the entire thing off to Corona for 5% if the reports, controls and convenience of seeing group participation were evident.

what a disappointment with no reply…

I’m trying to get an official answer for you.

Rob

Still not answered by using this new plugin, will I be able to use chartboost dashboard to track money, clicks, and installs ?

Hi Rob;

It has been a few weeks and this is a followup on two questions that I have about Chartboost.

I am pumping out an update right now (target publish date of next Wednesday) for an app that has consistently done $1,500+ per month through Chartboost using the former plugin.  I am hoping to use Corona Ads and your new Chartboost plugin. The questions are:

– How do I “continue” to use Chartboost Rewarded Videos through your system? (question raised above)

– I put in that Feature Request for Amazon ads support about 3 weeks ago (as you requested). And now I notice that there is an entry in the Corona Ads Setup for listing an app’s Amazon Bundle ID, etc. Does that mean that I can do Chartboost ads in my Amazon version of the app? Over one-third of my ad revenues come from the Amazon version.

Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

Steve

Hi Steve. I see you’ve asked the same questions to support@.

They should be able to set you up on the rewardedVideo. I’ve seen discussions about Amazon, but I don’t know if that’s for Chartboost or just for Corona Ads. I would say I’ll go find out, but you have asked the people I’m would be asking.
