Galaxy S5 Issues

I’ve had a few user reports saying that my app runs just a bit less smooth on their new S5’s than it used to on their old devices. Also I’ve had one person say that their S5 is using the default (Android alien) icon instead of my own.

I have a Nexus 7 and Google Nexus for device testing and neither problem exists on the older devices.

I’m just wondering if anyone else is having reports of any issues with S5 users?

No problem with S5 here… About the icon, make sure you have all the Android icons required.

What Corona build did you use on the app which is showing the problem?

One the problems is that Samsung has a history of releasing a device under a model name like S5 and actually have different models with different hardware.  It’s very possible to have one with a premium GPU and another with a lower powered one.  Here are a couple of articles specifically about the S5:

This article is about the S4, but it shows you how Samsung will ship different models to different customers:

Then on top of that, in the Android world, the carriers like AT&T, Verizon, Rogers, etc. have a lot more control over the operating system and what drivers are installed.  This itself can create performance variances between devices.
