Game Creation Log - Watch The Dynamite!

Hello Everyone,
My name is Matt. I am an iOS Developer coming from GameSalad. Over the past eight months, I have continually felt the limitations GameSalad has been pushing on me. I feel like Corona is the better place for me.
This forum topic is where I will be posting daily progress on an upcoming game. I hope to recreate the old legend, Playing With Fire (http://www.gamesmate.com/free-action-games/free-game-playing-with-fire2/free-game-playing-with-fire2.asp) for iOS & Android with all sorts of new features, controls, & more. Including tactical insertions, claymores, teleports, cat physics, etc.
Since this is going to be the first app I will be developing alone using the Corona SDK, I will need some help from my fellow community members  I will try my best to explain questions to the best of my abilities, & hope for welcomed answers

Cheers,
Matt

Welcome!

We have many GameSalad converts here, including myself.

We have a thread in Off Topic dedicated just to ex GS members so feel free to introduce yourself there as well - you might find some familiar names

Enjoy Corona - once you adjust it’s the most freeing, exciting thing.

Welcome.

Never used GS, or programmed anything before. I have made a few simple games already (nothing on the app store) using Corona SDK and have built a “library” of features I want to implement for my game. I basically said ok I’m going to make a game in 90 days, as Itunesconnect has you upload your binaries within 90 days or you lose the name you reserved. I reserved the name on July 10th, it’s the 30th, so that leaves me with 70 days to get my butt in gear.

Look forward to seeing your progress!

Thank you everyone for your welcomes  I look forward to sharing my progress on the game. I do have a few questions to ask the community so far.

  1. Using profit share, how much does the average artist get a percent of total game profits? I’d like to use this number to negotiate the price with my artist. If it’s hire then my expectations, he will see it & want a higher pay. If not, we will negotiate down. We just want your honest opinion

  2. Is it better to release the first version of the game with as many levels as you can think of, our give updates?

Thank You,
Matt [import]uid: 50842 topic_id: 13060 reply_id: 48023[/import]
