Game Publisher Require Native Code Integration

Hello,

Corona is a great SDK to accelerate game development in iOS and Android, and in the hands of creative people this could really help develop great 2D games.

Coming from pure obj-C development, we have tried Corona and quite loved it (honest!). We have created Stack the Stuff, well-polished physics game using Corona http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/stack-the-stuff/id428835861 and we are planning to release our next game using game publisher service such as Chillingo to get much more exposure. We have got a talk with Chillingo and BigFish representative and they require us to implement their native SDK (Crystals leaderboard for Chillingo for instance).

However, there’s no way to do that now.

So, really, native code integration is important if Corona developers wants to publish their games via game publisher. Unity is supported by Chillingo because Unity’s people though far by implementing native code integration via plugin.

note: i know there’s enterprise support thingie, but i feel like creating a new forum thread so anyone could give their opinition. This is our experience, is there anyone have a story like this? [import]uid: 41267 topic_id: 12630 reply_id: 312630[/import]

make an intro to the chiliingo guys and the bigfish and see what we can do…

ps; just saw the app you created with corona? did you submit that to our showcase? you should :slight_smile:
there are some perks for being on the showcase …

@Carlos:

We have showcased Stack the Stuff for one month now in here http://developer.anscamobile.com/showcase/stack-stuff and there will be several better games coming too from our game studio :wink:

As for intro to publishing guys, should we introduce Ansca team via email to them?

these are excerpt from our email conversation with Chillingo and BigFish

with BigFish:
“…Additionally, part of partnering with us does include additional development, including linking to objective-c libraries. We’ve learned that this is rather difficult with the Corona SDK – do you have any experience linking to objective-c from this SDK?..”

with Chillingo:
“…The issue we have is we don’t support Corona because it’s not compatible with Crystal so on this occasion I don’t think we can move forward…”

*ouch*

ps: i could forward our email with them to you if you want, Carlos [import]uid: 41267 topic_id: 12630 reply_id: 46427[/import]

email me at cicaza @ [anscamobile][.][com]

Hi Carlos,

Did Corona had some update about the Crystal integration? I’m starting talking with Chillingo about the possibility to use them as Publisher…

Any way to make a Crystal integration in Corona ? anyone did it already?

We implemented Chillingo SDK in our game framework in 1 day.

Carlos,
I can introduce you to the Chillingo guys (if you need).
We want to use Corona SDK for game development, but without Chillingo SDK support - we can’t.

(Also we have sent you a mail from IBA-Games)

And, I am Corona SDK Subscriber, and my private game on Corona SDK is ready for production.
(You’ll hear about it soon:)))

@Dr.Klaus
Wow your game looks wonderful!

@Carlos and Ansca, it really is possible to create Chillingo-quality games with Corona, but kind of this needs native extension. Or else it will be hard to be a standard for 2D mobile game engine. [import]uid: 41267 topic_id: 12630 reply_id: 55179[/import]

Thank inas :slight_smile:

This game I can launch through Chillingo, but I can’t do it without Chillingo SDK implementation.

Koala from my game know about this situation:

;))))))))

Thanks! [import]uid: 15448 topic_id: 12630 reply_id: 55182[/import]

Hello everybody,

Is there any news regarding native code integration?

@Ansca I completely agree that it will be hard to publish high-quality games (via main publishers) using Corona without this support.

@Carlos
Please, comment the situation, as it’s really important thing. We also waiting for Native Code Integration or publishers SDK support. [import]uid: 9058 topic_id: 12630 reply_id: 58884[/import]

I can tell you this much. I contacted Chilingo, exchanged emails, and that’s all I can say at the moment.

There will be no immediate native code integration. It is something we are looking at doing but no ETA.

@Carlos ,

This is a very very bad news for us… Is there any way for us to do that? anyone at Ansca can help us trying to show some path…

Please, I’m considering do whatever I need to get that working, this is really important for our company’s future…

Rgds,
Flavio

You are free to contact chilingo and tell them you want chilingo supported on corona.

Also, note that EA bought chilingo, so you will be dealing now a big giant corporation, not the chilingo that everyone knows.

Lets hope you can get inside traction.

Hi Carlos,

with whom you contacted in Chillingo? (Ed, Lorraine, Jamie, Chen or Janette from EA …)
I can help you speed up your collaboration process (if you really need this, but I need).
Additionally, I can help you with BigFishGames, Alawar and RealNetwork.

PS. But I need strong contact with Corona team (sorry, but Corona support is very sluggish)

Carlos, I am waiting letter from you.
