Game reset and consumables

Hi all,

I have a game in progress where I have added a “reset” feature to essentially re-initialize the game to a freshly installed / never been played state. My question is in doing a reset if a person bought coins via IAP (consumables) can I clear those remaining coins out or is it against IAP policy or simply bad practice?

I believe if you uninstall a game you lose any remaining consumables…even if you re-install the app you can only get your non-consumables back via restore purchases. I figured the same applies in my scenario.

Not sure if this is the correct forum…

I am just looking for a little insight…any info is appreciated,

Rick

Hi Rick,

That’s how I think about it for delete and reinstalls – the user should expect that their non-consumable products will be restorable, but not their consumable products.

But for an in-game reset, I think it’s up to you and the type of game it is.  In my case, when the user chooses the option within the game to reset it, I don’t delete their consumable purchases (and I let them know that before they reset).

Andrew! Another answer/comment for my question…you are the wizard.

okay…more to think about…I don’t want to make the end user upset by deleting their purchased coins

Thanks I appreciate the info!

No problem!  I agree, never a good idea to upset your end user.  :-)
