Just grabbed it from GumRoad. Mainly because I want to see the inner workings of the level editor and play around with Magnetized.
Thanks Roaming Gamer
Never heard of Gumroad before, but it was very quick and simple to use.

Well that’s just crazy
I will certainly be following this
@GG No doubt! I thought the 1GAM crowd was extreme! So Ed is an Author, consultant, regular guest on the corona geek show, and is going to also create and publish 7 games in a week… Talk about your over achiever
… and remember GIGJam48 is 48 hours to create one game… not the other way around!
This will be my first Jam, so I am doing a bit of research on the Ludum Dare site, to get pointers from the 'veteran jammers.
I’m also doing a ‘boot camp’ every night to explore something I havn’t tried. Last night was maze generation…
What is everyone else doing to prep?
Its Ludum Dare this weekend btw, I was thinking of taking part as a practice for GigJam next weekend.
I’ve entered for the hell of it but I’m on holiday in Egypt so I’ll have to do the bulk of the work in two charge cycles of my macbook air by the pool. Should be interesting
Seven in a week is tough, jayenkai is doing one every week for a few years now but i’m happy with 1+ a month. The great thing about doing prototypes that quickly, you can go back years after and make a proper game out of it
** MOVED TO UPDATE OF ORIGINAL POST **
That’s just awesome! I wish I could go that fast!
3 down… 4 to go…
See top of thread for details.
Here are some ideas for game #7:
endless mower - “So mulch Lawn”
road crossing game - a la frogger / freeway
… and there’s always the atari 2600 ‘Adventure’ clone i suggested on an old thread
Sounds cool!
It also might be interesting to publish some or all of the source code for free… (***look up at the ceiling and whistle innocently***)
How about an infinite sandbox game with automatic map generation for the seventh one? Or a tower defense?

I’ve finished the prototype coding for the Schmup and moved on to the ‘pinball’ game. As promised, here is a video showing my progress to date on the the first four games:

Please note, I will stop ‘new game’ development on Saturday morning and start polishing, packaging, and publishing. If I have time left over on Sunday I’ll try to finish any incomplete game(s).
So far it is looking good for 5 out of 7, but the schmup gave me real headaches. There is a bug in the turret code that is driving me crazy.
Anyways, onward and upwards.
Wow! I for one can’t wait to see what you manage to pull off in 48 hours on a single game
Game #5 (Pinball) is coded. Here is a video of the prototype:
Hello again! I ended up finishing 6 of the 7 games I challenged myself to make.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYkZ0MvoUHs
I will be publishing them together in a single app (as shown in video) on Monday. I could publish tonight, but I want to double check the features and do a last check for bugs first.
So, by delaying, I am not making the original goal of 7 games published within 7 days, but I think you’ll all be happier with the end result if I take a little longer to publish.
The app will come out on the Google android store first, then on the Apple store. Yes, it will be free.
Very impressive and well done!
Great Effort!!
Say, what tool(s) did you use to create the video demo (simulator and highlighted mouse clicks)? I need such a tool so that I can send demos of my apps to my clients.
@All -
@Eddierush - I use screencast-o-matic pro to do my screencasts. Tip: If you use it, turn up the FPS option to the max (its hidden in the options, but makes a big difference.)
@The Community
If you would still rather see these as templates, follow the directions in the GumRoad description.
Thanks!
