Google Play - Licensing

Is there any information on incorporating the licensing features from Google Play into Corona? I can’t seem to find anything. Can this be done w/o Corona Enterprise? Please direct - thanks! [import]uid: 47310 topic_id: 34940 reply_id: 334940[/import]

Currently it cannot be done without Enterprise. I’ll see if I can find where it is on the todo list.

Thanks for the prompt response Rob!

It is my understanding that the licensing features from Google Play are required in order to publish paid apps, or apps that feature in-app purchasing. Does this mean that these features are (currently) only supported in Corona Enterprise? [import]uid: 47310 topic_id: 34940 reply_id: 138980[/import]

Google Play supports two types of licensing, one is their older DRM method and the new one is this new way. As of right now, you can submit apps with either licensing methods. I published a game to them in the 2nd week of December and the old way worked fine.

As of now, we do not support the new way with Corona SDK, but Corona Enterprise can integrate it rather easily. It’s on our feature requests and it’s something that we may look at in the future. [import]uid: 199310 topic_id: 34940 reply_id: 139077[/import]

Thanks for all your help Rob. I’m a bit slow so would you clarify for me? Did you just basically use your private key and opt-out of unknown sources? [import]uid: 40033 topic_id: 34940 reply_id: 139081[/import]

I’ve read all the licensing info on Google (that’s a lot) but I don’t see anything about the “old” method and even if I did, other than generating my own key I don’t see anything else available in the Corona documentation on how to incorporate Google’s licensing key.

Would someone from Corona please give a short summary of what is available to developers via Corona for building for the Google Play Android store, i.e., and verify if, in fact, there is nothing else available (or that we can do) other than generating our own key unless we have the enterprise edition?

Thanks. [import]uid: 40033 topic_id: 34940 reply_id: 139253[/import]

On your app’s metadata screen (where you do your screen shots, etc.) under the “Publishing options” section, turn Copy Protection on. There is a note there that reads:

The copy protection feature will be deprecated soon, please use licensing service instead.

and just don’t use the licensing service and you get the older DRM. [import]uid: 199310 topic_id: 34940 reply_id: 139254[/import]

Thanks Rob! [import]uid: 40033 topic_id: 34940 reply_id: 139262[/import]

Use the old “Publishing Option” design, the new design doesn’t have the option.

Thanks again Rob. [import]uid: 40033 topic_id: 34940 reply_id: 139266[/import]

Neither the “old” or the “new” licensing is required, they are optional. [import]uid: 132483 topic_id: 34940 reply_id: 139284[/import]
