Google Play Services - Will it work on iOS?

Hey guys, I have a game basically ready to be released but I was using the now discontinued Corona Cloud to provide leaderboards to my players.

I’m reading about Google Play Services and it seems that Corona won’t be supporting it for iOS, or at least that was what I understood.

I know that Corona’s Google Play Services integration is not complete yet, but I have to know. Will it eventually start working on iOS? if yes, is there an estimated date?

Are there any other services that provide cross-platform leaderboards?

The eventual goal is to have it working on both iOS and Android, but it’s not yet complete on the iOS side. We’re steadily working on it, but unfortunately I can’t give you an ETA at this time.

Wait I think, well I know that Google owns Android so why would they let Corona spread it across onto their rivals platform. Aren’t  they combining it with Game Centre from Apple?

Google intends for the their GPGS to work for iOS too.  I think it’s working in native land now.  Of course Apple may not like it and while it’s not against their rules, they may not promote you as much as if you were using GameCenter. 

Corona builds for both and our developers want people to play against each other regardless of the device they are on, which is why we plan to support it.
