I am currently working on my next app and began wondering…what sizes should I be making my graphics so that I can easily adjust them for any screen or resolution updates a new iPhone or iPad may bring? Currently, I create the graphics as a PNG @2x and resize by half. However, I’m concerned that I will need to start from scratch if I need to later make my current images larger at a later date. So…what is the best solution? (obviously I’m not a graphics expert)
Thanks in advance! [import]uid: 12894 topic_id: 7288 reply_id: 307288[/import]
I’m creating all my game graphics at twice the size, then resample when exporting, as you do as well. As I’m working for the iPad, my original screen files are 1536 x 2048 pixel*. However, while this might cater for possible bigger resolutions in the future, it won’t cover any imaginable size – for that advantage you would probably have to create your graphics in a vector program. Vector art can be upsized and then exported to different resolutions as needed.
*If I were to convert a game to a bigger size, say a potential “iPad Retina”, there would still be quite a bit of work to do, but at least I won’t need to redraw everything. [import]uid: 10284 topic_id: 7288 reply_id: 25645[/import]
