Green Throttle SDK

Has anyone begun using the Green Throttle controller for development?
I have downloaded the SDK. After quickly looking over the documentation and SDK, it looks like the only way to take advantage of the GT SDK is if you have the enterprise edition of Corona.

Anyone else have thoughts further along the development path than I am? [import]uid: 34131 topic_id: 35656 reply_id: 335656[/import]

Pretty good timing

I’m asking to find out more about this announcement.

Here what I know as of now.

  1. The controllers will work with some existing android devices (mostly new ones.) The device plugs into your TV and becomes the game console and the controllers then become how you drive the device. It’s not that dis-similar from Ouya in concept, except that your existing device is the console, where is with Ouya you have a dedicated piece of hardware.

  2. It is Android only, and as of now iOS is not planned.

  3. Our engineers are working with their engineers to produce the feature for Corona SDK. When it’s ready, it will be available to Corona developers. No dates yet.

  4. If any Corona devs are interested in getting their hands on the dev kit, just email: developers AT coronalabs DOT com and we will get your information to the GT folks.

So color me really confused. Where on the Roadmap or the Feature Suggestions does this GT thing fit? Someone with lots of spare votes must have gone all out!  ;)

The Corona Geek (Hangout) of this week talked about GT.

@ksan, I think that the Green Throttle guys did a lot of heavy lifting to get the driver written for Corona while the Corona Labs engineers dealt with integration + plugin compatibility issues.  Whereas, the ‘voted items’ are all done by the Corona Labs engineers.

With all due respect… Can anyone tell me where in the Roadmap this thing fits into? Given all the teething problems with the items marked DONE and all the excitement around Graphics 2.0, Plugins released etc along with all the other Priority 1 items I just don’t get how it gets any attention at all. Thats it. Am I weird?

@ksan - Hi again.  I don’t speak for Corona Labs (not an employee), but I am pretty sure this is a technology that came out of left field.  I’m also pretty sure the ‘Green Throttle’ folks approached Corona Labs and said something like, “Hey, we have this product we’d like to integrate with yours, if we write the driver, will you help us with integration?”

Please note, ‘Green Throttle’ has been available for Enterprise for a few months now and the original code was written by the ‘Green Throttle’ guys.

(Pro) users can get it now is because of the move to enable plugins, which is on the road map.  Also, it was a good ‘vehicle’ to test plugins with since a lot of us have the controllers and were chomping at the bit, ready to use it.
