Grid 9 Button layout?

Hey folks!

Does anyone have an example imagesheet for grid 9 buttons? Trying to figure out how the API expects the images. Are they simply equidistant 9-sliced graphics that are automatically handled by Corona and magically scaled and adjusted?

Like, my button graphic is 99 x 99 pixels say, and then Corona knows to slice this into 9ths of 33 pixels each automagically or…?

I’ve done grid 9 stuff with other frameworks but a picture would be worth a thousand words at this point.

Appreciate any help I can get here!!

Best,

Mario

Mario,

Hi.  I read this a few days back and wasn’t sure what it meant.  I don’t use the widgets much and wasn’t sure what feature this went with.  Can you elaborate more what which of these controls uses these buttons you’re asking about?

http://docs.coronalabs.com/api/library/widget/index.html

Sure! I’m trying to figure out how the button expects this grid 9 layout image to be provided to it.

http://docs.coronalabs.com/api/library/widget/newButton.html

The part titled: 9-Slice Button Creation (ImageSheet)

I’m trying to figure out what people have been using as their imagesheet and I’m really interested in examples of how their sheets look to figure out what Corona expects.

And I also noticed that I keep saying grid 9 instead of 9-Slice, it’s known by several names out in the world. Hope that doesn’t confuse anyone…

It’s all up to you, isn’t it? By the time you’re creating a 9-Slice button, you’ve already defined your imageSheet and all the frames in it. You have to tell the widget factory which frames to use for which slice of the button, and it does the rest.

OK, still doesn’t give me an answer. I just give up on this for now. Thanks team!!

Love,

Mario

Mario,

You probably saw this blog, but just in case, here is your answer: http://coronalabs.com/blog/2013/07/16/tutorial-stylizing-widgets-part-1/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=071813

I saw the article and thought,

“Gee I never did figure that out and Mario didn’t get his answer.”

Looks like the Brent meister came through.

AHhh yessss Mr. Sorrentino DID answer my question EXACTLY what I was asking, the way the corners were snipped, etc.!!! Man I appreciate the link. I saw it earlier, but hadn’t checked it out.

Perfect!
