Gun Shy and in need of your advice.

I want to spend the absolute minimum I can on a Mac just so I can do builds for IOS.  I found this refurbished mac.  Do you think this will have everything  I need just to make a build?

Mac Mini
1.83GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB/ 80GB/ ComboDrive/ Airport/ BT Mid 2007 Part #
MB138LL/A. OS X 10.7 Lion Installed!

Thanks for your advice!!!

Just make sure you can upgrade it to mavericks. Apple is pretty insistent on forcing you to upgrade.

Aside from that it should do the job. I personally love refurbs, Apple refurbs in particular are fantastic (the ones sold by Apple)

Bsst of luck!

Hi Danny,

Thanks very much for that advice.  I’m a little unsure what : upgrade it to mavericks

means.  Is that the next version of the OS?

Thanks,

Arthur

Sorry, i should have been clearer. Mavericks is the name of the latest Mac OSX operating system (10.9).

According to Apple Support, you would need a Mac Mini from at least 2009. So that model there wouldn’t qualify.

What Richard said.  I would not get anything older than 2009 and even then you’re on a short leash before Apple puts out the next round of OS-X and iOS upgrades.  If you want more than a year, I would say a 2010-2011 at the oldest.

Get iMac Mini, then go down to best buy and get 2 4gb sticks of memory for around 60bucks go back home and grab a putty knife and open the mini with it and swap out the memory

that is what i use for my build machine and that is it’s only purpose in life

Thanks for all of your advice gentlemen!
