Hello to the Corona community,
This is my first post, but it’s more of a message to Carlos. He won the Plush Gwen contest at my website. I’ve attempted to contact him, but he hasn’t responded. He has less than 24 hours left to respond. If he doesn’t reply by 9:30 AM (Eastern time) the prize is forfeited.
How he won is a funny story. As the author of The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook, I’m an outsider here. I wouldn’t exactly say an enemy, as I respect the Corona community, but I hate to code.
I understand that by choosing GameSalad, I’m missing out on the improved performance that Corona has. I was thinking on converting my projects over to GameSalad. So, I wrote this post…
GameSalad to Corona Conversion Project

I was surprised when Carlos Icaza replied. But in doing so, he was automatically entered into the Plush Gwen contest. The contest recently ended, so I had to judge all of the comments written during the duration of contest. Based on the contest criteria, Carlos had a post that scored rather well…
Feeling… 9 (See below)
Format… 1 (Only had line-breaks, no special formatting.)
Helpful… 8 (See below)
Guild Wars… 0 (Not about Guild Wars)
Originality… 4 (It was cleaver for Carlos to post there, but not spectacular.)
Popularity… 10 (See below)
Readability… 5 (Average reading, nothing spectacular but nothing bad.)
Spelling… 10 (All words spelled correctly.)
Timely… 10 (First post within 24 hours of a new post)
Friendly… 8 (Carlos seemed very helpful, even posting his email.)
When I first read that comment, I was filled with a wave of emotions - a an important category in the contest. I felt surprise. I also felt a bit of dread. I realized that I had opened a new front in the iOS software development war. Photics.com would become the center of the GameSalad vs. Corona debate. As a result, that single post by Carlos probably helped to change GameSalad forever. GameSalad dropped significantly in price. I believe that post is one of the main reasons GameSalad Professional is $499 and not $1999. That single post lead to, or enforced, a series of events that dramatically changed three communities.
Carlos, you have less than 24 hours to respond to my email. If not, you forfeit the Plush Gwen doll. (The second best comment will be selected.) Heh, I realize that this might not be a valuable prize to you, but it might be useful. You could give it away to charity or as a gift, keep it for yourself, or even throw your own Guild Wars game creation with Corona. That’s up to you. The doll was custom made specifically for this contest. It’s worth about $100.
And once again, hello to the Ansca Mobile community… nice place you got here. [import]uid: 13264 topic_id: 4733 reply_id: 304733[/import]
