Hi I'm Blazing Applications

Hi my name is Brian,

I am new to corona, but not to iOS developing. Here is a little about myself. A few months ago, I started my own company, Blazing Applications, developing apps. I’ve been using a program called GameSalad, and made my first two games using that, Miner Escape and Miner Escape HD. I also have my third game, Doodle Shapes, coming in the next two days. After getting familiar, with game developing I am wanting to take in to the next step and create my own games using corona. I have been interested in corona for a long time, but never got into building a game. You will see me in the forum pretty often, as I am determined to make my forth game in lua.

I would love if someone would be generous to point me in the right direction? I have no idea where to get started.

Thanks,

Brian Gorham

Hey Brian,

Welcome to the Corona forums. I think one of the first places you should visit is:

http://www.learningcorona.com/

That site has an excellent compilation of tutorials. From what I can see, it is also being updated regularly.

This link http://developer.anscamobile.com/resources/docs will give you info straight from Ansca.

Try out the Corona in 5 minutes so you get a feel for how the dev process works. It is very different from GS. With Corona, you get power and a lot of control. There are some fantastic examples at http://developer.anscamobile.com/sample-code.

I am using GS for my Game Camp and I will be using Corona for the older kids/participant. Both tools have their distinct advantages and you’ll discover that Corona will open up a larger world for you.

Hey Blazing Applications, This is Asher Scott from B-Side Games
We met over on the GS forums a few weeks back.

Nice to see a familiar face. [import]uid: 10009 topic_id: 8437 reply_id: 30256[/import]

The tutorial I wrote I wouldn’t necessarily recommend if you are totally new to programming, but if you have a little previous familiarity with object-oriented programming then check out:

Hi Asher
How are you doing? I’m giving Corona a try, and I’m having fun learning it. Have you made any progress? [import]uid: 49201 topic_id: 8437 reply_id: 30347[/import]

It’s only day two so far I’m just learning the ins and outs of the program right now.

Hey Blazing Apps…

My work is considering giving me 2 hours a day to learn a bit of Corona so they can then offer apps developed alongside any video projects to clients for Android and iOS.

GameSalad just wont cut it for that purpose… Even though I’m addicted to it in my own time…

Hi Jon,
Nice to see you hear! I really like the corona SDK, it allows me to do things I never could before. Good luck

Welcome to Corona and congratulation on your new Game

I myself started using Corona less then 4months ago and
I had 0% programming experience (YES) it was hard for me
to learn and create an app A LOT of studying thankfully I had
the time (12-18hrs of Study) A Day but I finally learned and created
my 1st app Dragging Physics.

I Definitely Recommend Corona, And The Community is great
