Hi Everyone,
While I’m new to Corona, I’m not new to software and games development. I’ve been in the industry since the mid '80’s believe it or not, starting at a small UK 8bit games company called Incentive Software back in the day. I’ve worked through various related industries over my career, but always held a passion for gaming. Most recently I’ve decided to tinker with the idea of developing my own games as an indie developer, mainly for the fun of it, but who knows where it will lead.
As part of this journey I recently developed a fun, frantic version of the classic match 3 genre, called Fruit Spritzer, initially for the web, delivered through Facebook, you can see it and play it here if you’re interested, https://apps.facebook.com/fruitspritzer, and the Facebook page is here https://www.facebook.com/fruitspritzer. It was always my plan to test out delivery on mobile platforms too, but initially I had no idea quite how I was going to do it, perhaps using the same codebase through Cordova/Phonegap. However, after much experimentation, I seem to have settled on Corona. The decision fuelled largely by the fact that I managed to port the majority of the code to Lua/Corona in about 2 days. I’m have been highly impressed by just how easy it is to learn and become productive in Corona (and this from someone who used to work for Marmalade :D).
I look forward to continuing my journey with Corona, every evening I get to tinker is a new and fun experience, so far I’ve not felt left wanting by the system at all. I hope to have the first mobile version ready for delivery by the end of the month.
Cheers
Paul
