It’s not going to happen unless Admob pays them.

Hey guys. Just chiming in here.
Silentlogicstudios - that is not true at all. Our support for admob is not predicated on any payment.
At this point we are building a plug-in framework that will allow us to more easily integrate 3rd parties into Corona. That has been missing and is what is holding us back on a number of fronts. Once that is in place, the Admob situation may very well change. Until then we unfortunately cannot do much. But we are getting there. [import]uid: 10668 topic_id: 31641 reply_id: 126418[/import]
@Silentlogicstudios To be honest, in the past I might have agreed with you, but the Corona team has learned their lessons from the InMobi, Inneractive, and Papaya debacles they got themselves into and I know they won’t let something like that happen again. However, rather than just rushing one feature such as AdMob in they are trying to speed up the process so they can better handle all the requests moving forward. For me, advertising income is 90% income of my apps, i think most of the corona developers have try the inner-active, inmobi etc… but the result all we can see…!
i can’t believe that Corona SDK missing Admob and iAds support, as I have reading Walter’s blog, it will support not later than 3rd cycle, so I keep slient on waiting this., i think not only me ask for this, but most of the Corona developer…
Corona SDK is great, but if can let developers enjoy the income of using Corona SDK for development the app is WIN-WIN situation…
please please …let we know…WHEN…not…telling we…tomorrow after tomorrow…

I’m considering abandoning Corona due to lack support of third party sdk, eg. admob, tapjoy. Without this is difficult to achieve a good downloads and earnings. My native old apps have much more earnings than much better apps developed in Corona… [import]uid: 50988 topic_id: 31641 reply_id: 126474[/import]

my first app is Corona SDK, so I 'm difficult to change to native code now…
so sad… [import]uid: 22631 topic_id: 31641 reply_id: 126476[/import]

Just wanted to add to what David said, and to second what Puzzle Runner said.
Our biggest lesson from integrating InMobi, Papaya, inneractive, etc was one of maintenance. We have found that it’s a huge distraction from what we really want to do — deliver more features, platforms, and products into your hands.
What sort of distractions? These 3rd party SDKs always have bugs or have some critical updates or have incompatibilities with the latest OS (e.g. the privacy/udid issue with Apple, linker issues with Apple’s new armv7s in iPhone 5, etc). In isolation, each is small, but It all adds up. If we started integrating everyone ourselves, it’d create a logistical/combinatorial nightmare for us.
Our solution is plugins. It’s a piece of plumbing that allows 3rd party folks to own the maintenance. And that means it will accelerate the number of 3rd party services that you will be able to access with Corona — many of whom have been knocking on our doors since the beginning of the year!
We’re close and are talking to several 3rd party services, but I’m not going to give an ETA, because plugins are one of those things you don’t rush out the door; we have to get it right the first time. [import]uid: 26 topic_id: 31641 reply_id: 126655[/import]
If I understand correctly this is the best approach for Corona IMOH…
Let Corona work on core features and have 3rd party companies develop libraries for Corona and sell them independently. This is already the situation today but 3rd party libraries are limited to plain lua code and cannot integrate with native SDKs.
I think that once Corona is more open in that respect we will see lots of companies wanting to develop 3rd party libraries. This is a much broader solution then just supporting admob. [import]uid: 80469 topic_id: 31641 reply_id: 126659[/import]
