Hide the device frame in the simulator

Hello everybody,

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to hide the device frame in the simulator?

It just takes way too much space - I wish there was an option in the simulator’s “View” menu, or elsewhere.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @db0,

Yes, in the preferences window for the Simulator, there should be an option to display (or not display) the device border. Check that off and then restart the Simulator, and you should have a basic window to preview the app in.

Take care,

Brent

Thanks Brent,

But I do not see such an option.

Maybe it is only available to non-starter licenses?

Hi @db0,

Are you using Mac or Windows?

Windows 8.1

I don’t see it for the Windows simulator either.  2014.2393 running on Windows 7.

This might be a OS X only option.

If you’re wanting a 16:9 aspect ratio consider using the OUYA skin.  It’s frameless.

Thanks guys,

Will Corona devs consider adding this checkbox for Windows users also?

Also if you use a custom resolution size (Window>View As>Custom Device), you don’t get a frame.

So maybe try a custom 640*960 window for an iPhone, 1536*2048 for ipad etc and see if that does the trick.

Hmm - I guess this is also a Mac only feature, as I do not see “Custom Device” in my View As menu…

Thanks. This is helpful. I wish Windows will also get this “hide frame” functionality out of the box.

Feels like too many hoops to jump for a trivial feature.

+1 on getting this feature added for windows users.

Hi all,

To clarify, Corona developers should already be able to display a custom skinless device on Windows:

View > ViewAs > CustomDevice
