High Climb 2018 - Animation

I was analyzing the new corona template and it is really very interesting.

I noticed that the animations of the gorilla (and other) are done with the help of json files that move the sprites.

I think that you used a program to create those json files (surely it was not done by hand). So I’m interested in more information on this

What Corona template?  You did it again.

Please don’t assume we’ll just know what you mean.

You do realize, that even if you’re talking to ‘Staff’, that the same person who wrote this ‘template’ may not actually read the forums?  There are a few people involved and they all have different jobs.

I said the last corona template.

This time I thought it was obvious. But I apologize again it is not my intention to be ambiguous

here it is:

Yeah, not obvious.  I don’t follow or keep up to date on the templates.

I just downloaded the project and quick perusal leads me to believe those are the output of Spine.

FYI. It wasn’t obvious what you meant because:

  1. There was no recent forum post about a new template.

  2. There was no recent blog post …

  3. I don’t see the template you’re talking about on the main marketplace landing page

I finally saw what you meant when I went to the Marketplace -> App Templates:

The thing is.  You didn’t mention the Marketplace.  I guess you thought that was obvious too.

I’m beating on you a little here, but just to remind you about the the old aphorism, “When you assume something you make an a** out of you an me.”

Really, I just want the post to be more useful/beneficial for you, we who help, and future readers.

Perfect thank you very much.
I also read something “spine” in the folders but I did not know it was the name of the program

as you said, I took the reference to the marketplace for granted. I know your observations only for better understanding and speed. really no problem

Now that’s a nice template - Corona should’ve advertised this to it’s users - (well maybe it’s planed already for an upcoming blog article).

I guess I need to do a better job monitoring the Marketplace. I used to see every submission and we would do posts every two weeks on new cool Marketplace items. I suppose I should get back to that.

@maximo97, we have a basic saying here in the Corona community world:  “Help us help you”. The more groundwork you can do when asking questions (more details, links to what you’re referencing, don’t assume everyone knows everything), posting relevant code properly formatted, including complete projects (main.lua, config.lua, build.settings + any needed assets) when sharing projects, etc. all helps us do a better job of helping you.

Yes, the project in question uses Spine which is a 2D animation rigging system. It’s a third party tool from Esoteric Software:

@Rob

I fully understand, I use corona for several years now and I myself have sometimes asked others to be more specific.

The fact is that impatience sometimes gets the better of it.

I will be more careful in the next posts.
