How do I know what widgets can be skinned using image sheets etc... ?

Recently renewed my Corona sub but left it for a year and my god what a mess. Things are being introduced and docs are NOT getting updated. I have just found out through searching the forums that a Segmented Control can have a image sheet applied but there IS NO MENTION OF IT in the documentation!

So can someone tell me what widgets can be skinned and point me to the documentation please on how to do it ?

Also the Anchor points (X/Y) what do they apply to in regards to widgets, or don’t widgets use them ?

Dave

Hi Dave,

Welcome back to our collective nightmare!

Brent has promised some documentation / tutorial updates on this very topic. I understand there are some bug fixes needed to make skinning possible on some of the widgets and I believe these fixes are in the works. Hopefully Brent will post his tutorials / documentation updates very soon.

In the meanwhile, I have been able to use imageSheets to update the look & feel of buttons and checkboxes/switches. I think you have always been able to use imageSheets on spinner. The rest I have not tried so I don’t know which ones of the rest will work or not. Sorry for not having more answers for you.

Keep well. Regards,

Kerem

Hi Dave,

There is progress being made on this behind the scenes (testing, fixes, etc.) and a new batch of fixes should roll out soon (plus a new feature for buttons). As I’ve stated before, what has prevented documentation of the skinning methods for some widgets has been bugs/issues related to skinning. I felt it was necessary to remove this information when the provided details were either inaccurate or misleading (in this case, bad information was worse than no information).

Essentially, if the docs show how to skin a particular widget, then it has been tested and there should not be any issues. If it’s not listed in the docs, then we’re still correcting the issues and, once that is in place, then I’ll document it a.s.a.p.

Just as an FYI, there will not be a “tutorial” on this. I will add the skinning details directly to the documentation just like I’ve done it for the widgets which currently can be skinned.

Best regards,

Brent

Great news!!! Thanks for this update. Hope it will be sooner than later.

Might be worth putting a note in the docs, it completely confused me I thought I was looking at older documentation or a Widget 3.0 had been released and I was using a older version.

I just tried to skin the pickerWheel with only marginal results…Brent, did I do something wrong or is this part of what’s currently being fixed??

Hi Dewey,

Yes, this one is still being worked on (despite the skinning details in the docs). It’s definitely soon on the list of fixes to make.

Thanks,

Brent

I must be dreaming. I thought I posted in this thread just now. Are we now entering an era of active suppression of opinions?

Brent, any updates? Are we getting any closer to the availability of these fixes and the related skinning documentation? Thanks.
