How do I make images in varios resolutions?

I read about

but how  to make those icons, launch images.

Do I have to draw a big image then  scale it down?

Hi there,

Yes, typically you’ll either (a) create your graphics in high resolution and scale them down to lower resolutions, or (b) create your images in a vector graphics (using Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape), and then exporting it as a bitmap in whatever resolutions you need.

Don’t forget, you can use Icon Robot to do the scaling for you if you like.  You may not get the best results, but that really depends on the original image’s complexity among other factors.

(Note: This tool comes for both Androidicons and iOS.)
