How Do I Make The Tabbar Invisible, Leaving Only The Buttons?

The tabBar can be positioned anywhere on the display virtually, but what I want is for it to be invisible, leaving only the buttons.

I have searched patiently but can find no answer to this. 

So either a transparent tabBar, or an invisible one. Or alternatly just be able to position buttons on the display where ever I want them?

You can provide a background image to the tabBar.  Just provide it a transparent PNG file.
