The App publisher (large media company) has sent a Distribution Certificate. I can see this but can’t use it to build the App as it is unsigned.
I think I need the publisher to add me to its team. Am I right or am I missing a step somewhere…

Easiest way is to get them to give you admin access to their dev account; yes.
