How far will a QR code reader work?

I have downloaded and tested the qr code reader which works great. Someone said they read somewhere that you can scan one from a billboard. Does anyone know about this?

I did read that you can scan a qr code from a billboard but I have to find one to test scan it from. Can anyone share the maximumn distance that they were able to scan one with using the plugin on this site?

If it’s large enough on the screen, it will be read. Even from a billboard.

In my experience most phone QR cord scanners can read a code the size of your index finger tip. Picking one up from a billboard should be pretty easy.

Hi Warren,

The ability to read the QR code depends on the size it appears on the screen when taking the image - nothing to do with the physical distance from the device to the code. As long the code is large enough on the screen for the separate blocks to be differentiated, there shouldn’t be a problem.
