How many (%) iphone 4/3GS users with IOS <4.3 out there?

Hi guys.

I have an iphone 4 with still ios 4.2.6 and recently switch to build 690 (xcode 4.3) and was wondering how many people (again in %) are left behind like me still using ios <4.3? I know that 704+ won’t work with less than 4.3 but I do not want to leave money on the table since my game works fine on my iphone 4 (4.2.6) and the stable build. Of course if it is a low % then I will not bother and use a more recent build and put the lower limit at 4.3.

There are a few threads on this already so I wont start an essay here but there ares “that many” still on < 4.3, I forget exact figure but is in other threads.

The other thing to consider here is that if people don’t upgrade their device either 1) It’s an older device that cannot be upgraded so they are less likely to spend money on apps anyway, or 2) They don’t use it enough/care enough to update and again would be less likely to spend money on apps.

Thanks Peach! It must be just me but I am having hard time figuring out what keyword to use on this forum for the stats I need. I found this on the web:

Basically showing that 80% already have OS 5.0+ installed. 20% 4.x (not sure of the 4.3 number)

I am using build 790 right now (just it picked it!) and so if the pre-4.3 is not much % then I should be ok. My understanding is that the stable 704b (ipad retina) would not work with Game Network (which I hope to integrate in app update) so 790 should probably work fine for me. My upcoming game is graphic heavy and has a hard time on ipod 2 gen so OS 4.3 will definitively keep those old devices away!

Thanks Peach, It is hard sometimes to search the forum (what keyword to use?) In any event, it looks like OS <4.3 is only around 5% so I am not worry anymore and will probably just pick a recent build.

No worries.

RE searching the forum, are you using the actual forum search, or Google? We all use Google at the moment because we know the built in search needs work.

We’re hoping to get that fixed soon, though obviously is lower priority than bugs/features :wink:
