How to access a Contact's "Notes" with Corona Address Book plugin?

Does anyone know how to access a Contacts “Notes” field from the Corona Address Book plugin?

I want to both import and export to the Contacts “Note” field.

It appears to me the field was simply overlooked when the Address Book plugin was developed.

Also, any word on when the Android address book will be available, it was promised over a year ago, surely this hasn’t completely fallen off the Corona road map as it’s obviously needed to develop business apps for Android.

Thanks,

Nail

bump, hello Corona …

I don’t know where in the queue building a contact based plugin for Android exists.  Engineering is very busy with other things that are a higher priority right now.  If this is something you need sooner than later, perhaps you could contact Gremlin Interactive, and see if they can provide it as part of their 3rd party plugin market place.  Or find an Enterprise developer who would take it on and perhaps sell it through Gremlin’s market place.

As for the notes, I’ve not looked at that plugin in a long time.  If you do a table dump (look around for the print_r function in the community code)  and it’s not there, then we probably don’t support that field.

I just went to look at the feedback site to see how many votes this has:

http://feedback.coronalabs.com/forums/188732-corona-sdk-feature-requests-feedback/suggestions/5639593-address-book

It has 8 votes.  I can’t really go to engineering and ask them to prioritize this when there are items with dozens and hundreds of votes that we would need to get to first.  It would help to get more votes.  Like I said, you could see if you could get an Enterprise developer to build it and host it through Gremlin Interactive.

I think it should not be expected that we spend our votes on something like this. If Corona Labs introduces a feature on one platform it should be a given that the same feature is to be implemented on the other platforms sooner than later. This is what Corona SDK is promising us right? Develop once, deploy on many platforms etc etc. IMHO, if you can’t deliver something on both IOS & Android in a reasonable timeframe you should not release it at all. The lack of support on multiple platforms for certain API make those elements unusable when it comes to multi-platform apps. No sense in this at all.

@Rob, thanks for the frank response.

No Contact Notes support is weak IMO.

Corona stated an Android Address Book plugin would be produced.

This is what I expect regardless of how busy engineering is or how many “votes” it gets.  I read nothing about “voting it up”, when the iOS plugin was released, just that the Android version WOULD follow.

Frustrated here to say the least.
