How to create pseudo 3D globe?

Hello!

I would like to create the model of globe, but have no ideas how )

Corona has no 3D engine.

So I think there is possibility to create pseudo 3D globe from world map image file:

  1. Create imageRect and circle over it

2. Using touch drag imageRect, so circle will show another part of the world

  1. Circle should round part of the map image (like Mona Lisa image was distorted in Quadrilateral Distortion  :)) so there will 3D effect of real globe

May by anybody has already done the similar or can give some idea/algorithm
