How to manipulate a display object created in another scene?

Hi guys I’m just starting with Corona Composer, so please bear with me if this is a stupid question.  :stuck_out_tongue:

If I create a rectangle display object in Main(), how can I manipulate the property of this rectangle (making it larger or invisible for instance) in different scenes?  I guess what I really want to know is how to reference objects created in another scene?
