How to: Rate My App and get "x"?

My understanding is you cannot ask your users to give you 5 stars, but you can ask them to rate your app. There are several threads and code about how to open up the rating page in Corona, but I don’t see anything about how to check if someone actually did rate your app.

Between my free and pay versions there are various other extras unlocked in the Pay version, but I’d like to include one in the Free IF they Rate the app. Is there a way to know for sure if the user actually rated your app, with Corona?

I suppose I might be able to do something in the background – open the rate page and look for “you have rated this app” or something like that, but that just seems a bit silly and error-prone.

Otherwise I’m just going to have to unlock the item as soon as they agree to rate the app, which isn’t terrible, I’d just like something a little more “slick”.

I would love an answer to this also. I am taking the easy way out in mine. Adding incentives to rate my app, of course not saying they have to give me 5 stars or anything. When they click the button the window pops up and the incentives are activated. Pretty much just like you said. Would love a way to tell if they rated my app and unlock them then. I looked at this a few months ago and didn’t find a solution, though I hope to check it out again in the near future - so far I’ve just got one app that unlocks as soon as they say “yes” to leave a rating and that has worked well.
