How To Set Avatar For Forum?

Bumping this issue as well.

It’s been months and my avatar in these forums have not changed to the new one I uploaded in my profile.

I’ve tried deleting it, waiting a few days, and then uploading the new one again… but the avatar in these forums remain the old one.

However, any comments I make to a blog post will use the new one. It’s only here in the forums that the old avatar remains.

Hi,

It’s been weeks since I changed my forum picture and it still does not appear. Why?

My Gravatar icon is only a stylized “S” with no text. My old Corona avatar contains text at the top and bottom of the “S”.

When I log in to my account I see the Gravatar icon on my Corona profile page, which is as it should be.

However…If I go to my Forum profile page (as of today Aug 30) my old avatar has not been updated. It’s still using the old avatar, and any new topics I post or replies I make will use the old avatar (as you can see with this post).

It’s not a huge issue, but I’d like to see the Forum avatar to be updated with the Gravatar icon.

Hi Ingemar,

I realize this is frustrating; we’re rebuilding parts of the user account interface, and the avatar issue is not yet resolved or working as we (and users) would like it to. Can you try deleting the image in your account (the older one) and then see if the Gravatar one shows up in a day or so?

Thanks,

Brent

@Brent

The problem is… how do I delete the old icon from my Forum account? I can’t find any way to do that…

ingemar - I was just looking and see that I can replace your forum icon (yet strangely cannot seem to just delete it). If you want to email me your preferred icon, I’ll replace it. (david@coronalabs)

Any update on how to remove the old icon from the forum? I have a new Gravatar that shows up fine in my account settings but is not updating on the forums.  It’s been 3-4 days so just checking if I missed something.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

Today our web team fixed the occasional issues that were occurring with forum avatars. You should now be able to upload your own custom image (or just continue to rely on Gravatar if your prefer). The steps are simple:

  1. Access the “My Settings” section of the forum. One way to access this is from the gray bar near the top: on the right side, you’ll see a button that says “YOUR SETTINGS”. Click that, then from the pull-down menu, select “MY SETTINGS”.

  2. The first option at the top of “General Account Settings” should be “Photo”. Click that button and a pop-up window should appear. In there, you can upload a custom photo or specify which Gravatar account e-mail to pull a remote photo from. Click “Done” and then “Save Changes” on the main page. That’s it!

Sincerely,

Brent Sorrentino
