I hate having to hardcode a “mute” into my app for development so that I can write code and test visuals while listening to iTunes without having my app’s music/sound effects blare at me each time I change a piece of code, save and have the app restart. 
Aside from having to code it in, I’m always paranoid I’ll leave the app muted in a submission to the app store. Egad that would be ugly.
