Humbling & Unpleasant Ride with Corona and SpriteDeck - Please Improve

Dear all,

Please allow me to share my experience with you so that you can try to fix the flow (plug and play) for new users. (FYI, I’m transiting from Windows-based to Apple first timer.)

  1. Started off registering an account on Windows machine. Got the SDK and it ran well after the licensing register.

  2. Downloaded SpriteDeck and managed to use it for about 10 exports. After this, it keeps prompting me the license and trial window whenever I clicked export. Uninstalling and re-installing SpriteDeck and clearing registries didn’t work at all.

  3. Dumped my i5 Windows machine into my store room and went to get myself a brand new MacBook Air.

  4. Downloaded both SDK and SpriteDeck (and Adobe Air).

  5. I quickly tried SpriteDeck and the export button works.

  6. Then the SDK completed its download and I got it installed into Applications.

  7. Went past the SDK license agreement screen and keyed in my e-mail and password previously created using the Windows machine.

  8. The “Could Not Verify Account Information” message appeared.

  9. I guess I needed help, so I went to browser, found out that the e-mail account is working on the web login itself but not allowed to post any message i forum. I then tried the re-send validation e-mail and upon clicking the link in the newly received e-mail, it says I have already been verified and doesn’t proceed further.

  10. So, I went to register my secondary e-mail account with Corona. This time, it allows me to post in forum. However, my SDK still reports “Could Not Verify Account Information”.

Its been 48 hours and I am still not up and running. Thus, I am documenting this process so that it can be of further assistance to other users; or, maybe have Ansca/SpriteDeck register this into their improvement plans?

  1. Upgraded the new Macbook Air from 10.6.5 to 10.6.6 and tried the SDK. Still having the account verification issue.

    1. Upgraded the new Macbook Air from 10.6.6 to 10.6.7 and tried the SDK one more time. Account verification issue is still there.

Tried launching the terminal, and here’s the capture upon the account verification issue.

Fixed it by tethering the MacBook Air to my iPhone over 3G.

I have no idea why it refused to grant me trial access over my DSL broadband.

All is well now. [import]uid: 50030 topic_id: 8543 reply_id: 30638[/import]
