I messed up! Please Read and Don't Do this

So long story short I’ve been going insane for the past 2 days trying to get provisioning and certs working correctly. From Corona giving me signing errors even though XCode shows my profiles are fine with the certs being fine. To when I finally got a good build Apple rejecting it because of signing issues.

I’ve run through a bunch of different threads with start from scratch instructions. I’ve probably re provisioned and new certs 50 times. Rebooting my system each time. A lot of people seem to resolve this so its something I’m doing I’m sure.

It finally dawned on me that maybe my original setup on my App in iTunes Connect was set with the wrong bundle id. Yep it appeared this was it. I know what I’ll do to fix it.

So… I deleted the app… and yep worst mistake ever. You cannot name an app the same name or use the same sku (which is less horrible). I think in my case I have a work around but watch out! Even if my work around works I am still not certain I’ll have a build that works correctly.

Can someone explain why Apple makes this so ridiculous? [import]uid: 128768 topic_id: 28778 reply_id: 328778[/import]

(tongue in cheek)

Yeah, thats mad.
How can I release my new app ‘Angry Birds’ now?

More sensibly, if the original was one of your products, it makes no obvious sense.
I think they are also trying to ensure that if you launch a new version of an existing app, then existing users get an update as part of the App Store.
There doesn’t seem to be a ‘tons of new features, please BUY an update’ facility.
It has to be a new app with a new (or at least changed) name.

I always hated this, though I understand the reasoning it is a real pain when you do something like this and are unaware of the consequences.

I hope your workaround does indeed work for you; for future reference you *can* change the bundle ID without deleting the app, though I know that is useless info right now.

Sorry to hear about your headaches :frowning: [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 28778 reply_id: 116065[/import]

jeff472 I understand the whole dont rip off other app names as that would be crazy too. I just think its nuts not to be able to re use something attached to your account that you created.

Peach id be happy to hear it if you can tell me for future reference. I was at my wits end last night but have figured out where I went wrong.
long story short: I had numerous keychain entries for passwords relating to my developer account… not sure how that happend. I deleted those and was able to finally get everything submitted. [import]uid: 128768 topic_id: 28778 reply_id: 116129[/import]

When you open iTC and go to “manage apps” you should be able to click your app, then view details - it’s the page you have description, screenshots, etc.

At the top of that if you haven’t yet submitted there should be “edit” or the like next to where it lists the bundle ID. (I believe this is still the case, I haven’t had to change one in a couple months but as far as I know it is still the case.)
