I will be giving a seminar on Corona SDK at my University. Any tips?

Hello everyone my name is André, and currently i getting a degree on Computer Science at Univem ( a university from Brazil ), next month there’s going to be a event here called “Semana do TI” that translates to “IT Week”, during the week a bunch of specialists of all the different areas come here to do talks and seminars, and during the weekends the students can volunter to do talks/seminars on different topics.

I proposed to do a seminar on the basics of Corona SDK and got accepted, i’m in no way a Corona SDK specialist but i do have a pretty solid understanding of the platform and have published some apps using it.

I will have a class with 40 students and 3 hours to minister the course, so here is what i have in mind:

  • Introduce Corona SDK, talk about what it can do.
  • Show some apps that where published using it.
  • Start to work with some code, create a new basic project, and talk about the mains library’s like: Physics, Composer and Widget.
  • Them make a simple game like: Space Invaders.

I’m really excited about it, what do you guys thing?

And i know this is a looooooong shot, but if anyone want to take my class you can register here http://www.univem.edu.br/semanati2016/

I think this is fantastic.

I just saw your post.  How was your class?

It was pretty good, In total 25 students attended, i followed the script i created:

  • Talked about Corona.
  • Showed the official video from Corona SDK web site.
  • Created the physics game project, and talked about physics, composer and displaying  objects in the screen.
  • Started coding and made a Breakout game, that is available on github: https://github.com/and-dutra/Breakout-Corona-SDK

I believe most of the students learned at least the basics of how to start a project, and edit it which was the goal of the course.

Great job!
