I Would Like To Ask About Testing App On iOS

hi there, i would like to know about testing app on iOS. i have recently read this page:

https://developer.anscamobile.com/forum/2012/01/10/ios-walkthrough-testing-device-0

but i realize that I need access to ios provisioning portal in order to get the certification. I think this is the page?

developer.apple.com/ios/manage/overview/index.action

but when i login, it says “access denied”. What does it mean? DO i need to enroll to the ios developer program and pay the $99/year subscription plan before I can get access there?

also, can I test the app later on jailbroken iphone or i need to restore my jailbreak first? [import]uid: 114765 topic_id: 25858 reply_id: 325858[/import]

Yup. You need to pay and get your developer account with Apple before you can generate provisioning profile, distribution certificates, etc.

hi there, how about testing in jailbroken ios device? Can i do that? [import]uid: 114765 topic_id: 25858 reply_id: 104574[/import]

@brad2000xi, you should be able to install and test an adhoc built on jailbroken device. That said, you CANNOT test In-App Purchase using jailbroken device. And maybe you won’t be able to test Game Center either (but I’m just guessing as far as GC is concerned.)

:frowning:

i just tried to enroll using individual license for iOS developer tool and they said that I can’t make online purchase from my country (indonesia). This is so absurd, why the discrimination? It was written that I have to fax all the information, including billing information. I know Apple want to be safe than sorry but this is 2012…even eBay and paypal has lifted the discrimination ban for our country many years ago. Apple makes a lot of money from my country and yes I can still make purchases in app store as a customer but why on earth they dont allow me to use the same credit card for joining iOS developer tool???

For comparison, Google never had anything like this…I can easily join their play store program within just few minutes

Sorry for the rant. I know i shouldnt write it here. It’s so off topic. I really hate apple for all these hassles. I wont buy any new macbook or mac mini after knowing how discriminative they are.

Thanks anyway for the answer. I think I will just tell my partner, who lives in Singapore, to enroll using his name. That should do it. [import]uid: 114765 topic_id: 25858 reply_id: 104653[/import]

@brad2000xi , if it will make you “less” bad feeling about what you said, am Brazilian, and also here for Brazil (a country of nothing less 210.000.000 millions of people) we have to do the things like you were asked by Apple!

To be enrolled and also to RENEW my Apple Developer Membership I always had to do the FAX, etc etc etc…as you will have now.

So, if you say about “discrimation” for your country (that is pretty small than mine) what would I call this? :\
Cheers,

Hey guys,

As far as I know this has nothing to do with discrimination - different countries have different regulations and reporting laws and companies need to protect themselves. (For example review how Paypal operates in India.)

I’d also like to say that a friend of mine registering as an individual but wishing to use a business name needed to do the process offline as well.

When I registered for my account I had to fax my ABN (Australian Business Number) and my GST (Goods and Services Tax) certificates.

Playing it safe and getting all required docs isn’t about discriminating, just covering themselves. Think of it like any affiliate network in the US paying people outside the US - they require a W8-BEN form be filled out.

Just my 2 cents  [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 25858 reply_id: 105409[/import]
