IAP and Leaderboards and encryption export regulations

Hi all,

I am thinking of implementing IAP and/or Leaderboards in an app I am working on.

Originally I was going to implement my own leaderboard server but when I read that iOS requires the use of https and that apps using https would need to file an annual end of year classification report I thought it’s too much hassle.

I was wondering if using the leaderboards/IAP features provided by Apple/Android would excempt me from that.

Or are they still classed as encryption and require me to declare that my app uses encryption? Does anyone have experience on that?

Many thanks.

I recommend checking out https://www.bis.doc.gov/index.php/policy-guidance/encryption

It’s not really a big hassle, especially since you only need to fill a few cells worth of data per app, do it once per year and the instructions and template(s) are quite clear.

Thanks for the reply.

I had a look previously on that page but the problem is I don’t know if iOS/Android use cryptography for IAP and Leaderboards.

Do they?
