IAPs in alternative Android stores

My Android-only app currently supports Google and Amazon IAP purchases (via IAP Badger).  I would like to make the app available in some alternative markets, such as SlideMe, GetJar, and Mobile9.  Does anyone have experience or knowledge regarding how IAPs would work in these markets?

I’m [guessing] that I would need to integrate PayPal or some other 3rd party payment processor?

Assuming  you’ve downloaded apps from these services, what does IAP look like for the various test apps you’ve run?

Also, there are a number of monetization plugins on the Marketplace that might help:

I see at least one for PayPal and another for Fortumo

For everyone else’s edification, here is the reply from SlideME

"We provide our own in-app billing SDK and we support the OpenIAB SDK: http://slideme.org/developers/iap

We only permit in-app billing from Google Play or other markets if it is for non-essential virtual currency; that is, it must be completely optional and obtainable in-game so that users without Google Play are not complaining they cannot purchase it due to lack of premium currency (virtual gambling games such as poker, slots, bingo, lottery, betting, blackjack, etc are not granted this exception). SlideME may determine that this virtual currency usage is unacceptable. Any other uses, such as unlocking features, purchasing premium-only items, removing ads, upgrading the app, real or virtual gambling currency etc., are not permitted through external market billing and will cause application Denial. You’re limiting your monetization capability as many SlideME users lack Google Play services on their devices, and cannot make any purchases or downloads from that store with their device. Simply disabling in-app purchases but leaving the buttons in place will result in application rejection. "

That looks like something you’ll need to have a developer write a plugin to support.  Bummer.

Note: I’m a little leery of non-Google stores, but this could be me being biased and/or un-educated about them.  While I’m aware there are a myriad of 3rd-party Android stores, I don’t know which ones are safe and valid versus which ones are merely designed to make the owners of the store a buck off other folks’ work.

In any case, more power to you for exploring alternate stores.  Also,  if you continue on this journey and if you end up gathering sales-performance metrics for these alternate stores, I’m sure the community would love to hear/read a summary about your experience.

I’d also be interested to find out how you fair with this.  I’m guessing you’d have to build with Enterprise to integrate other store solutions?

I’m guessing the same; unless they happen to provide a Corona plugin.  I’m going to revisit this after I complete my 10 language localization. I will post my results for the community.
