iCade support (keyboard input)

The general question was posted here: http://developer.anscamobile.com/forum/2011/05/19/keyboard-capture

I bought the iCade (which is a bluetooth keyboard as an arcade joystick and buttons).

For example, the UP for the joystick is “w” from the keyboard.

Keyboard input is needed for CoronaSDK as the iCade is pretty cool (and bought by many) with VERY few games out there!

And, using a bluetooth keyboard (like the Logitech Tablet Keyboard for Android 3.0) for games (WASD, etc.) would be cool.

I don’t have an iCade but with so few games available for it right now, I do think it would be a nice bonus if Corona could work with it.
A nice feature to differentiate yourself in what is an otherwise over-saturated market of Apps.

Thinking about getting one. Do you like it? I would get the Atari Classic if I did get one:) [import]uid: 22392 topic_id: 12035 reply_id: 45620[/import]

“A nice feature to differentiate yourself in what is an otherwise over-saturated market of Apps.” EXACTLY!!! Where is CoronaSDK with this??? All it needs is keyboard input (W-A-S-D, etc.). I guess I could use Unity instead. :frowning:

I like it. It doesn’t get used very much, since there are only a few games. The Atari Classics might be worth the $14.99 purchase

I mainly bought it, because I teach programming and thought this would be really cool to have in my class. I plan to use CoronaSDK anyways, but the ability to make games for the iCade would be even that much cooler!

I got my iCade about a week ago and it’s great!! The Atari Classics collection is very bad -even though these are the original classic games.Of course graphics/sound/gameplay sucks by today’s standards.

When searching in the App store you will actually only find about 10 Apps with iCade support. ONLY 10! There are more iCade supported Apps, but I guess developers are not very clever since they don’t state “iCade” in the search terms or so when publishing to the store…

Here’s a full(?) list of supported games (and no, I am NOT an Ion employee):

iCade support would be a GREAT feature for corona SDK. Ansca, please…
