If you decide you're going to use consumables, keep this in mind

Hey fellow Corona devs,

  I recently developed a cross platform app in Corona with iAP on the ‘big 3’ (iOS, google play, amazon) … one thing I wish I’d thought completely through before writing any code was the implications of using consumables and what that means with regards to restoring purchases

No issues posting this.  It’s good information and can help people watch for that rabbit hole before they head down it.  I probably would have gone with an online resource to track their history.

thanks Rob … yeah, I definitely considered that, and will be doing something like that in a future app.  I’m still struggling with deciding on the best way to uniquely identify a user’s account with the least friction … if they log into gamecenter/gamecircle/GPGS I can identify them, but I feel like plenty of users don’t want to do that (or don’t understand what those are).

I think the ‘perfect’ solution for consumables is to let them play and give consistent reminders that your progress isn’t backed up until you sign in with something - and then giving them a few options for what that ‘something’ is (email address, game center, facebook, etc)
