I'm proud to announce my very first game : "Egz" !

Hey Corona community !

You may have seen my posts here and here’s why : I’m finishing my first game, “Egz”.

It’s been almost 2 years now, and during those 2 years, I’ve learnt a lot. 2 years is probably a lot for a mobile game, but it’s because I’m definitely not a developer. I “simply” used to be an Art Director in digital agencies and one day, I decided to do what I’ve always wanted to do, develop my own video game.

At the time, I didn’t know which engine I would be using : I was hesitating between Coco2D, Unity and Corona SDK. At the time, Unity didn’t offer a simple solution to do 2D games and Coco2D just seemed… too complicated. Corona SDK was the best solution for me since I still had some ActionScript memories. One day, I watched a video on YouTube, showing how easy it was to build a simple game with Corona. Then, I bought a book. And yeah : that’s pretty easy.

… But not so easy, especially if you’re trying to build a game all by yourself, which was my case. I’ll tell more on my devblog in the coming weeks if you’re interested (http://www.egz-game.com).

For now, I’m just gonna show you what I did.

HERE’S THE ANNOUNCEMENT TRAILER (click on the thumbnail or here)

Just in case you wonder, this trailer has been made with Adobe Flash and with some footage of actual gameplay.

“Egz” will be available very soon, early 2016, on iOS and Android, and maybe later on Mac & PC (wink wink Corona Team!).

I’d just like to add a HUGE THANKS to the Corona Team and the Corona community. Without all of you, I wouldn’t have been able to do this. So, yeah, thank you, a lot. And because they really deserve it : thanks to Rob Miracle , Brent Sorrentino , Roamingamer and to everyone who has helped me here.

I’ve still got a lot of work to do, and I’m pretty sure I’ll have to ask a lot of questions here, again, and again… but I also want to add that working with Corona is great, really great ! And all of that, for free ! Working with Facebook, Google and other services in an other hand…

Hope that’s ok, but I’ll also put some links (if that’s not OK, i’ll delete them) :

Visit my website !

Egz : like me !

Twitter : follow me !

Google+ : follow me again !

Again, thank you  And let’s get back to work now !

Edit : Twitter link has been fixed, thanks SonicX278

I have no words! It’s just plain and simply AWESOME! This is probably the best game iv’e seen made with Corona SDK since iv’e started using it couple years ago! This is what i’d like to see people use as an inspiration to make their own games with this quality and awesomeness!

Good Luck!!!

Note – 12/2/2015 – Twitter link is not working.

Congrats, @evanspro - it looks beautiful. I’ll be dl’ing on day one. Good luck with it!

Looks awesome. Nice aesthetics .

Thanks a lot everyone

But I can’t wait until you have an occasion to put your hands on it : having good aesthetics is great, but having fun is much better. And this is definitely the hardest part for me

Very nice work @evanspro, good luck with the launch!!

Hey @evanspro, that’s a really neat looking game. Great balance of design, style and gameplay. Looking forward to downloading!

A great looking game and a great example of what Corona can do.  I wish you all the best with your launch and well done a very polished game.

Looks really great!

Most excellent work

Whoa!! That is one heck of a game!! waiting to download it.

I have two questions for you:

  1. What tool did you use for level designing?

  2. Did you do all the Art work yourself?

That looks awesome!

Nice work. Let us know when we can get our hands on it
