Hello Solar2D developers,
With a heavy heart it’s (after) time to quit app development.
Here is the latest iteration of my long standing quiz:
Some years ago I had separate quizzes on the store and it was financially worthwhile developing. Understandably, Apple cleaned up the store some years ago as a result of endless variations of the same apps - often by the same developer. Consolidating all my quizzes into one was financially a huge hit and I’ve barely limped on for some years since Apple decluttered and cleaned up the store.
No one will likely remember me as I was active on here (2013+) under a different user name back when app development was still lucrative. Perhaps it still is for some of you!?
Back then these guys (Hi Guess the Brand – Hi Studio Games) used Corona SDK and absolutely DOMINATED the charts and no doubt generated enormous revenues. Closer to home (here in the UK that is) Mediaflex also with Corona SDK/Solar2D also did well in the charts on quizzes on iOS although sadly that flame too seems to have been long extinguished.
I’d be happy to hear from anyone who has experienced either a similar demise or success - particularly with quiz apps.
I’ve toyed with the idea of perhaps trying another tilt at the store with apps other than quizzes. Alas, the years have gone by quickly and I doubt I have the motivation to go again in such a saturated market…
