So I have spent the last couple of hours pulling my hair out about this.
I’m using the “Ultimate Config.lua” from Mr. Miracle, but I’m having problems making the different images fit!
My app is in landscape mode always.
I have started with a huge image for my background (3000x2000) and then scaled down to the following three sizes:
480x320 (Remember my app is in landscape, so I switched the sizes when shrinking)
960x640 --> @2x
1920x1280 --> @4x
When those are used it looks great on the iPhone 3 and 4. On every other device it letter boxes! On the iPads it letterboxes on the top and bottom (Sides of the device) and on the iPhone 5 and all Android devices it letter boxes on the sides (Top and Bottom of Device).
Is there a simple way of understanding what sizes the different images should be so the scaling works?
I feel like i’m missing something really obvious, but I can’t grasp it.
*Edit* this is how i’m adding the background image:
back = display.newImageRect ( screenGroup, “images/rightBack.jpg”, 480, 320 )
back.x = display.contentCenterX
back.y = display.contentCenterY
