In-app purchase failing after upgrade to iOS 5.0.1?

Is anyone else experiencing problems with in-app purchases after upgrading to iOS 5.0.1? I’ve got a game that’s about to be released in the App Store, and, after upgrading to iOS 5.0.1, I can’t use its in-app purchase feature any longer. The API returns error “Cannot connect to the app store” (my translation). I’ve switched from cellphone network to wi-fi (both connections are okay, and I can use the App Store app just fine), restarted the app many times, logged out of the test store account, restarted my iPhone, nothing works.

Is that a Corona bug or just something with my iPhone? Thanks.

Hey there,

I haven’t seen any other reports of this but I will bring it up in our next meeting so that if it is on our end it can be looked at.

Thanks! My brother made the logo, he was happy to hear you like it!

Hey Dario,

You’re post prompted me to test out my IAP that was working, we’re currently waiting for review with our update, and I’m also getting an error now.

Error: Cannot connect to the iTunes Store.

iTunes Connect can be a little flaky from time to time though, so I could easily see that being the issue, we’ve had issues before, and it just started working again. [import]uid: 54327 topic_id: 17664 reply_id: 67331[/import]

I just tested on my 4S running iOS 5.0.1 …
with an app built using build #645

and an in-app purchase worked a-ok.

Yeah I just tried again and no dice, build 591 though I think. Same device and OS version though. [import]uid: 54327 topic_id: 17664 reply_id: 67340[/import]

latest build made no difference for me either, so I’m assuming it’s just an iTunes Connect hiccup for some but not others. [import]uid: 54327 topic_id: 17664 reply_id: 67342[/import]

I still haven’t been able to use the in-app purchase since the upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 (before that it was fine). My app is build #656, if I’m not mistaken. I’m not able to rebuild it right now, but I’ll test it with build #645 (per kennw’s post) as soon as I get the chance.

My app was approved and the app store version did not have problems with the in-app purchase! Weird… Anyway, thanks, guys!

Hey Dario I meant to write a couple dad ago and forgot. I ended up making a new test user and it worked. Previous to that no dice at all like you with my current one. We also were approved this morning with no issues. Good luck! [import]uid: 54327 topic_id: 17664 reply_id: 68647[/import]

Really glad to hear all this is resolved, thanks for the updates

A friend had this issue with my app trying to buy the in-app upgrade, “Cannot connect to the app store” (again, my translation)! He then remembered he had downloaded the app using an iTunes account and was trying to buy the in-app upgrade through another iTunes account. What he did was to delete the app from his phone and download it again with the same iTunes account he was going to use to upgrade, and it worked!

Could that be what happened in your case, jonparkins? Definitely could have happened in mine!

Thanks for posting that Dario,

I will keep this in mind for advising people in the future. (I’ve not experienced it myself.)

I’ve had no problems with the IAP post release, it was only in the sandbox environment and like I said as soon as I created a new test user everything was fine. I don’t really know what the issue was in the end. [import]uid: 54327 topic_id: 17664 reply_id: 69265[/import]
