Indexed color support for PNG images

Is there any chance for getting indexed color support for PNG images?

I’m creating an application which will fetch chart images off a third party web server, and where I do not have any control over the format of the images which are produced.

The server produces indexed color PNG images only.

Is there any chance that indexed color PNG support will be part of any future release of the Corona SDK?
