Introduce yourself

Hello, I am Markis, I own TianjinUniversal. I started programming back when I was 14, competing in many state and national computer programming contests.

Lately I have just been a designer and architect of programs (and working on patents for ideas I have come up with), I stopped programming for a while and I was a Math Instructor/Teacher for over a dozen years.

However, after seeing Lua 3-4 days ago, I decided to jump back in and see how far/fast I can go. So, here I come Lua and Corona SDK. Let’s get this party started and try to create some nice programs to sell, so I can finally get rich! haha

Thanks!
Markis

@mail83 - I think I’ve seen some tutorials around from you before on art stuff, is that so?

@Ken - Welcome to the community, some really interesting art there. Loving the toad licking one, would totally put up a poster of that.

@Markis - Sounds like you have a lot of experience, I hope that translates to $$$$ for you :slight_smile: [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 5909 reply_id: 114046[/import]

Hi everyone!
I have been around here for a quite long time but I have not introduced myself yet!

My name is Patryk and I live in London, UK.
I quit my job as IT Engineer (servers, networks) at the beginning of this year to work full time as a one-man band on my first game. I founded my own company YAY! Studios Ltd (http://www.yaystudios.com
I am a techie guy, games have been very important part of my life, but I can say I am a newbie in game development and last time I was programming seriously it was about 10 years ago.
I have been working on my first game since March this year. By getting deep into indie dev community, attending conferences, reading and learning A LOT from blogs, magazines, forums etc. I realised how unexperienced I am for my first big game.
I am not talking about coding which is so easy with CoronaSDK - but everything else: game design, graphics, music, marketing, monetization etc. I would say I was an indie dev zero and wanted to be a hero! So I decided to take a break for about 3 weeks from my main game project and make some simple nice game.

This is how ‘Indie Zero 2 Hero’ project was born. I will be blogging about the process of making a game by wannabe indie developer  If you are curious how this journey ends - you can check the blog at http://www.indieZero2Hero.com or follow me on twitter http://twitter.com/PatskyPat

All the best,
Patryk

Hi guys

My name is Darren and I’m currently living in Arizona. My boss has just bought a Pro subscription for some apps he wants to make and suggested I could learn about Corona by asking some questions around the forum, so here I am.

I have used other sdks in the past and hope I will not be too much of a n00b!

Look forward to being a part of your community. [import]uid: 168379 topic_id: 5909 reply_id: 117982[/import]

Hey Patryk, I was going to say I thought I’d seen you around  Nice to see a proper introduction!

Welcome Darren; it’s a good community, feel free to ask “n00b” questions whenever you like, at least they’re super easy to answer

Hey there, everybody!

I’ve been messing around with Corona SDK for the last couple weeks have been crazy-impressed. As a programmer/scripter by trade (in the corporate environment), I love how much I can do in so few lines of code, not to mention that I’ve always had a soft spot for Lua.

I’ve teamed up with an artist and we are working on some mobile game projects. I plan to eventually go freelance, subsiding off some independent app/web design contracts in addition to designing games

The community seems like a great bunch of folks and I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone! Hopefully soon I’ll be able to be a resource and contributor and not just a devourer of the existing collective knowledge. [import]uid: 172008 topic_id: 5909 reply_id: 121905[/import]

Hey there TozyJay- welcome to the community!

I hope you do get to be a contributor in the future, it’s a great community and “the more the merrier” is an apt way to describe that attitude around here  Having friendly faces around makes it a lot more fun to participate in discussions.

+1 for Lua! [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 5909 reply_id: 121945[/import]

Hi all,

My name is Brandon and I’ve been using Corona / Lua for a few months now. My educational background is in architecture but I decided to pursue a career in game development since the economic downturn has taken such a toll on the architectural profession.

I worked with GameSalad for about a year and had some modest success with a business partner that I was working with at the time. I decided I wanted to take things a little more seriously and turned to Corona in hopes of developing a more professional product.

So, here I am. Looking forward to the chance to bounce ideas around with you all.

I’m Ryley Newsham, I live on a farm in Alberta, race motocross, and build with these blaster computers to try and make some money! I might mention I am 15, and it is my goal to never have to go work at the local food store or gas station like my friends to call a “job” so I found Corona. First app is about 98% complete, and the people I have let play it love it instantly so should be good!

I think I ask too many questions, but I am not slowing down any time soon. 15 and wide open [import]uid: 28237 topic_id: 5909 reply_id: 137000[/import]
