Last post was about a week ago. Is the beta complete? I like the idea of cross promotion but I’m concerned about critical mass.
No, Beta isn’t quite complete yet, there are a lot of moving parts.
What are your concerns?
And what are your views on the the other questions?
Critical mass referring to the total size of install base needed to grow. If apprever is Corona only will there be enough devs to keep the momentum going.
As far as the other points:
a> real time geolocation would be useful, I’m working on localizing my app in several languages.
b> house ads would be fine if the user has no internet getting them to click on something will make their experience worse anyway.
c> I’d have to give that some thought.
d> somewhat useful but push notifications can do all of that.
My other concern is that once more established ad networks get Corona plug-ins apprever will be abandoned. I’m talking about the ones that currently don’t have a Corona solution but are fairly popular such as tapjoy, heyzap, vungle, etc.
As a one man show with family members helping out I’m all for the indies getting a leg up.
Valid points, to be sure.
There are some things happening that we cannot announce, but we do have plans in place to grow the user base. If others also come on board through Corona plug-ins, we believe we already have features that will distinguish us from them, and we have plans for more, such as monetization techniques that might be new and unique.
As developers ourselves AppRever grew from our own disappointment in the other ad networks, which all seemed to be lacking features we needed. We hope to become the grass-roots network made for developers by developers. And that’s why we’re starting this discussion in the forum. We certainly appreciate the feedback!
Greetings fellow Indies!
We are nearing our Beta completion but before we finish, we’d like to start a discussion on what features you might like. Specifically:
a ) We can provide real-time geolocation data down to the user’s city. We’d like to know if this interests you and what might you do with it? Would you focus on countries in which you are doing well and try to magnify your user base there? Might you decide to do language translations? How else might you you use this?
b ) Our system uses caching and other tricks for fast ad display. This also means our ads do not fail when the App loses Internet connectivity. Currently, AppRever will just display the last cached ad until Internet connectivity is restored. What would you like to see happen in this case? Would you prefer to display a ‘house ad’ in such a circumstance?
c ) How would you all like us to handle the natural disparity between apps? Some apps serve more ads than others based on their user base or just based on how and when they serve ads. Others have addressed this through a credit system or a one-to-one mapping for served ads or installs, but that solution makes it difficult for new apps to gain any traction. We have some things in mind that we aren’t yet discussing publicly, but we’d love to hear your thoughts.
d ) We can offer ‘on the fly’ text ads. For example, you can use our network for a rating nag to the user, simply by defining criteria such as every 10th ad, display an ad with the message “Like this game? Rate us now” and the link that goes to. This allows you to do some things in your App without rebuilding and resubmitting. What else might you do with this capability?
e ) This isn’t really a question, but for the sake of completeness we should also point out that we are experimenting with some new monetization techniques that have the potential to monetize far better than anything else out there. We also should point out that:
- We work in the Corona simulator with real ads, making integration easy
- The SDK requires only 3 lines to use
- We now do install tracking (thanks the testers that helped us test this!)
- We will be offering real time geolocation data
- Our animated iAd-like ads are seeing much higher click through rates than industry standards
- It’s very easy to sign up at www.apprever.com
Our Beta is nearly complete, but there is a little time left to jump in.
But we’d really like to get a discussion going on what we all need from a Cross-Promotion ad network. This is an opportunity to influence a running ad network and help all us Indies! Feel free to join the discussion – ad display speed, ad revenue importance versus getting app downloads, video ads, click through rates, etc. Let’s talk!
