That looks very very good. Did you use tiles in a separate layer to provide the arrow keys on the left side of the screen? That setup looks very good. [import]uid: 11904 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 15099[/import]
The controls are essentially rendered on top of the visual output that Lime generates. They’re at the top of the overall display group. [import]uid: 13089 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 15101[/import]
Sorry for not being clearer. What I wanted to find out is (if you’re ok to share) whether you defined the controls in Tiled as a tile layer and then manipulate them in Lime as part of your overall world or whether you manipulate them separately in Corona. Thanks for sharing. [import]uid: 11904 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 15102[/import]
They’re manipulated separately in Corona at the moment since I don’t consider them to be part of the world (and thus, I keep them outside of Lime). Movement via the d-pad now works, along with full walking animation (via spritesheets). [import]uid: 13089 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 15104[/import]
That looks really nice! I’m so excited when I see things getting made in Lime and even more so when people have nice things to say about it!
I can’t wait to release it fully just to see what else can get created Keep them coming! [import]uid: 5833 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 15110[/import]
@udesignme - thanks for sharing. Most appreciated. [import]uid: 11904 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 15111[/import]
World logic is in place, events, e.t.c - now working on the battle system and menu functionality.

This is amazing!!! Your work is looking wonderful & polished. Great job! [import]uid: 11904 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 15113[/import]
Really impressive! [import]uid: 5833 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 15138[/import]
Hiya Graham, could I bother you to be added to the Lime board access list? I’m having a problem with the map move function in mango with the Lime0.8 drop.
Thanks

Hi Aiteal,
I have sent the latest set of usernames to Carlos to be added to the forum however as Ansca are off on Christmas holidays this has been delayed, sorry for the inconvenience.
Please email me the question and I will help you all I can, the map moving stuff isn’t set in stone and will require more changes anyway so the documentation on that isn’t very thorough. [import]uid: 5833 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 15153[/import]
Will do, much appreciated. [import]uid: 11672 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 15154[/import]
Here’s an example of map scrolling in tandem with sprite movement in Lime.

Wow! Looks amazing! Makes me want to play this game already. Keep it up!!! [import]uid: 11904 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 15192[/import]
You can follow development via our blog, if you’re interested.

That’s some amazing work going on there, if you ever have some spare time and fancy writing some tutorials for the site about any of this please send me an email with your ideas, would love to hear them. [import]uid: 5833 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 15203[/import]
Just thought I’d update this post with the recent goings on in the world of Lime, firstly the private beta stage is going really well. Lots of bugs keep coming in (luckily most have been caused simply by me sending the new versions out just a little to quickly, which won’t happen in the public beta) and most of them are getting fixed pretty quickly.
Isometric support is still lacking, something that I am working on. Z-depth is an issue with isometric maps as well as a few other niggling things.
I have written a total of 14 tutorials so far, all of which can be read by anyone regardless of their inclusion in the beta or not so please do have a look over them to see the sort of things that you can do with Lime when it is released - http://justaddli.me/tutorials.php - more tutorials are getting added fairly regularly, mainly when someone in the beta group asks me how something can be done.
Video tutorials will be coming as soon as I can either get round to filming them (I had never written a tutorial before this let alone filmed one so it may take me a while to get into the swing of things with these) or find someone kind enough to create them for me.
There is also an API listing here - http://justaddli.me/api.php - and an LDI listing here - http://justaddli.me/ldi.php
I have also just added a new feature called Berries that can be read about here - http://justaddli.me/berries.php
I have been getting quite a lot of emails from people asking when it will be ready for sale, and currently the only answer I have for that is the traditional “when it’s ready”. Currently there is one real problem that is holding me back from opening the gates and that is performance, currently performance on hardware is still very much lacking but I (and other very helpful people) are looking into it as you read this.
Now onto the plan, it will go down like this. When the performance issues are resolved (and they will be), even more testing will be done to completely ensure the speed issues are gone for good. Then when I and the beta testers are satisfied Lime will be released to the public however it will still be marked as Beta. What this will mean is that there are still some things lacking (like full isometric support, unless I get this working in time) and a few other niggling things plus not as much documentation/sample apps as I would like (however these will always be increasing anyway so will never actually be complete).
The good news is that when Lime is in public beta it will only cost you $20, this is a one-time fee and will be a per *programmer* price. Naturally if you have 1 programmer and 20 designers then you would only need to purchase one copy and then all your designers can just use Tiled (which is free), this keeps your costs down and opens things up a bit as Tiled runs on Windows, Mac and Ubuntu.
All updates are, and forever will be, free.
After an undecided time, maybe around a month, if I decide Lime is ready it will then be taken out of beta. What this means is that it is stable, fast and lovely. What it also means is the price will then increase to $40. Hopefully it will prove to be a worthy investment and naturally if you have already bought it you don’t have to buy it again.
Any questions, just ask

@GrahamRanson and @udesignme haven’t heard any news on Lime development lately, how’s it going? I was thinking of buying it, but your site says there are still performance issues on hardware (I assume that means it’s slow on the iPhone) which has me worried. Any idea when it’ll be out of beta? [import]uid: 48658 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 30196[/import]
Hey, there has been quite a bit of improvement put in as well as lots of new features however the performance is still not up to speed, it’s ok for smallish maps (it’s hard to define these as it depends on so many things) and works fantastic in the simulator. If we could do desktop publishing it would be amazing!
Carlos has told me that currently Ansca are focused on lots of Android improvements but once they are finished they will be moving onto performance and graphics, which will be a huge help. [import]uid: 5833 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 30204[/import]
Well, I know that there are performance increases that could be sorted out via things like culling however naturally there could still be required improvements after that as well so can’t guarantee everything, but I am very confident. [import]uid: 5833 topic_id: 3598 reply_id: 30595[/import]
