iOS 8.1 build installing loop (Starter 2393)

We have done a small app for kids and now we have a problem to create the application.

We are so happy for this work but also so sad to have this problem.

We can build the app without any problem. I can drag it into iTunes and it shows up fine, but when I push it to the iPad (8.1) it just kind of loops through the “installing” phase and never actually installs.

If I look at the iPad, the app icon is there and the app is greyed out (darker than a regular generic app icon). If I click on it, it goes to the “installing” phase again. The little clock ticker goes around a full circle like it is fine, then it goes back to being grey again.

The certificates are ok! Please any idea to solve?

NB1) With Corona SDK Starter 2393 can i build for iOS 8.1 and iOS 7.1.2?

NB2) I see that Corona SDK Starter 2393 not run on mac 10.10 but can build the app? The simulator have a bug!

  1. 2393a (make sure you have the “a” version) knows about iOS 7 built apps.  This should work as expected.

  2. 2393a will run with 10.10 Yosemite, though things like native.newTextField, native.newMapView, etc. (anything that starts with “native”) won’t work in the simulator but will work on device.  This is due to a bug in Apple’s Yosemite at the time that public build was released.  We had to put this in to work around Apple’s bug.  That bug has been fixed and in later daily builds you can use native things again.

Hi Rob, many thanks for your patience.
I see that i have 2393 non-a.
Please what is the difference and how can i download the -a- version? We use free Starter plan!

With 2393a we can build for iOS 8.1?
With 2393a we can use 10.10 and xcode 6?

Sorry fot these easy question but understand is really important for us now. Really thanks!

If you just go to the download page and you’re on a Mac, it will download the 2393a version.  The “a” version isn’t functionally different other than a different build ID that tells the servers what server version to build against.  So Starter’s can use it too.

2393a is still an iOS 7/Xcode 5.1.1 build.  It still has the Yosemite 10.10 limits with regards to native.* items.  It however gets around many of the iTunes submission issues brought upon us by the upgrade of iTunes Connect to support iOS 8.

iOS 7 apps should run on iOS 8, though there may be a few things like Locations/Maps that may not work quite right.

Hi Rob, many thanks.

Please see the attachment - how understand if is 2393 -a- or not -a-?

This is gun from a Mac with 10.7.5.

Yes, here i have a Mac with 10.7.5 and xCode4 an another Mac with 10.10 and xCode6: what is the best to use? We use basic, very basic features!

I am very worried, if you help me do me a great kindness!!!

Hi Rob, i’m trying to rebuilt the app from Mac with 10.10 and xCode6.

Anyway the app that i have built from 10.7.5 with 2393a (a!!!) do not work on 2 iPad (7.1.2 and 8.1). The app is greyed out (darker than a regular generic app icon). If I click on it, it goes to the “installing” phase again…

I do not understand what could be the problem…

How about some screen shots showing us what’s grayed out?  Also grab any console log errors or warnings related to this.

Xcode 4 can’t submit apps to Apple anyway.  You need a minimum of Xcode 5.1.1 to do that, and Apple will change that to Xcode 6 in February.   If you are not using any native.* API calls, Yosemite 10.10 and Xcode 6 will probably be your best bet.  The native.* objects are disabled in 2393a on Yosemite.

Hi Rob, here better - i build the app and i solve the grayed out icon (now the app is live!!!).

Yes, i have used Yosemite 10.10 and Xcode 6 (can i send you the log console please?)

For the rest: i think we use native.* API calls so i ask to enable this: is it’ correct to buy the basic subscription?

With basic subscription i can use only 2393a but native.* API calls are enabled, confirm?

Can i do a test before buy a basic subscription? Please let me know asap!

Many thanks for now!

Sorry Again Rob - i have a doubt - on Android i see all correct but on iPad i see all frame animations cutted!!!

If 2393a native.* API calls are disabled for iOS the is also for Android.

How can send you some screenshot in private mail? Many thanks, it’s urgent

Basic and Starter’s only have access to public builds.  Like Starter’s, build 2393a is the latest build available to Basic subscribers.

Native calls are things like native.newTextBox(), native.newTextField(), native.newWebView() and so on.  They **WORK** on devices, just not in the Corona simulator for Macs (they have never worked for Windows).   When the next public build comes out (no ETA, but we are working on it), then it will no longer have this limitation for Macs on 10.10.

This has no effect on Android what so ever.  If you wish to share a console log or a screen shot you can do so here in the forums where other people can help you as well.

I don’t understand what you mean by frame animations being cut.  This should have no effect by the OS.
