iOS 8 and Game Center init issues?

Ever since upgrading my phone to iOS 8, my Corona version to build 2438, and testing out my game, Game Center will not successfully init.  I am logged in to Game Center…   Even other games - including those built with recent versions of pre-iOS8 Corona - are working fine.   But every time my init callback returns event.data = false and event.type = ‘init’.   It’s just never successfully initializing.

Anyone else having this issue with iOS 8?  I need to get a build out of my game ASAP and this is preventing me from being able to do so…

thanks!

Nate

Same issue here, also waiting to submit. I have push registration issues as well. I know Corona is probably working hard on these issues but some update post would be appreciated. It is kind of strange there has been no blog post about iOS8 or the new devices or xCode6 simulators.

Same issue occurred…

Yes, same issue here. I use SDK public build 2393a and upgraded to ios 8 & Xcode 6, then I test it with the GameCenter sample of Corona Simulator, when I click “Submit High Score” button, it said “GameCenter Offline… Please check your internet connection.”.

Please help, thank you.

Can someone file a bug report on this please.  I’m not sure we have a GameCenter related bug.   Make sure to include your build.settings and config.lua.  Also put iOS 8 in the title too.

When you get the email from the bug tracker, please post the number back here.

Thanks

Rob

Thank you. :)

Thank you for filing the bug report!   Hadn’t had a chance to do this yet.  Good to know others are experiencing this too - hope the Corona Engineers are able to fix it quickly    thanks

Rob - humble request…  would it be possible to have a new daily build put out when this is resolved? And do you know when Engineers might be able to work on this?  I know there are other iOS 8 issues you guys are working hard on.  I hope this one is not too hard to fix.   thx

+1 on a fix…  i was planning on releasing my app this Thursday and will now hold off until a fix is available.

Try turning on the sandbox.

Settings > Game Center > Sandbox

We had a similar issue until we turned that on then it worked fine.

dchan,

Thanks for the tip.  I do not see the switch to turn sandbox mode on, but doing a bit of Google’ing, I see that I need to connect my iPad to XCode6 to enable that option.

Does Corona currently work with XCode6?

I submitted an app to the store back when I had iOS 7 installed, and I know that the app was working with GC.  The app reviewers tested the app and approved it, but I have not yet released it (I was planning on doing that on Thursday).

Since my recently approved update to another app is running GC on iOS8 without a problem, I am wondering if I should go ahead and release my app on Thursday anyway… in other words, is the problem I am seeing just a Sandbox issue?

thanks,

–john

Hi dchan,

What about the bug and when this might be resolved?  thanks.

Nate

@borderleap, as we fix bugs they will roll out into daily builds.

Rob

Doh! Didn’t think of checking if that had changed. Seems to be back to normal for me.

Same here - working just fine now.  Thanks Rob & dchan. Assuming that this is NOT a bug then?  Just testing via Sandbox mode now requires a manual switch change in settings…

This should be mentioned in the docs for the gameNetwork.* API.

Another thing to remember

Apple do enjoy making us jump through hoops.
